SL49 Pro Skills
Under the direction of lead instructor, former pro hockey player and current Mississauga Steelheads Assistant Coach, Stefan Legein, the SL49 Pro Skills class offers high intensity, challenging drills designed to bring each player out of their comfort zone and help them take their game to its highest level.
This program is extremely popular with students including several Pro, Major Junior and NCAA players who trained alongside Stefan Legein in preparation for their 2017 seasons. These players include NHL players John Tavares, Ryan Strome, Matt Duchene, Taylor Hall, Sam Bennett, Max Domi and Andrew MacDonald.
OHL players Owen Tippett, Mikey and Ryan MacLeod, Nic Hague, Logan Stanley and Matt Luff also attended regular SL49 Pro Skills training sessions during the off-season.
The program is demanding in nature and is not for everyone. It is designed for players whose strong work ethic and motivation matches their high level of skill and for those who are looking to take their game to its highest level. Thus, the program is being offered to Rep players only.
Primary Points of emphasis in the SL49 Pro Skills Program
On Ice: Edge control, turning, evasion techniques all with pucks, including tight space training. One of the advantages of training on smaller ice rinks is that there is very little dead space, similar to a game. The drills will closely mimic game situations with the speed, intensity and competitiveness of a game forcing players to make quick and accurate decisions and as they develop skill and creativity.
